When we tell people about At Home Palmetto, we don't start with our certifications or our service areas. We start with two mothers from South Carolina who understood what it truly means to care for the people you love most.

Our story began long before we opened our doors in York, Richland, Kershaw, and Lancaster counties. It started in living rooms where we held our grandparents' hands, in therapy sessions where we advocated for our special needs child, and in those quiet moments when we realized that good care isn't just about medical expertise.

The Experience That Changed Everything

As mothers who navigated life caring for aging grandparents and raising a child with special needs, we learned something that no textbook could teach us: there's a delicate balance in providing attentive care while preserving dignity and independence. We discovered that the best care happens when compassion meets competence, when patience meets professionalism.

Our team brings together decades of professional experience that prepared us to build At Home Palmetto: 15 years in business development and management for both small businesses and major corporations, 10 years of school guidance counseling, a degree in sociology, 20 years of nursing experience, and 30 years of social work with a Master's degree in social work. But it was our personal experiences as family caregivers that taught us what truly matters in care: understanding, patience, and treating every person with the dignity and respect they deserve.

We also learned how isolating it can feel when you're coordinating between multiple providers, when you're not sure if your caregiver truly understands your loved one's unique needs, or when you feel like you're just another client number instead of a family seeking support.

Care So Good, You'll Call Us Family

That's why our slogan isn't just marketing—it's our promise. When you choose At Home Palmetto, you're not just hiring caregivers. You're gaining dedicated extended family members who bring both skill and genuine compassion into your home.

Our team is carefully selected not just for their qualifications, but for their interpersonal skills and genuine dedication to service. Any caregiver placed with your family and specially selected for you. We celebrate the little victories alongside you, offer a steady hand during difficult moments, and create a supportive environment where everyone thrives.

Growing Across South Carolina with the Same Heart

What started in three counties has grown to serve families throughout South Carolina, but our core philosophy remains unchanged. Whether we're supporting a young person with autism in Charleston, providing dementia care in Columbia, or offering respite services in our original York County territory, we approach every family with the same warmth and respect that we'd want for our own loved ones.

Understanding Your Life's Challenges

At Home Palmetto isn't just another caregiving agency—our mission is built on understanding your life's challenges because we've walked similar paths. We know what it's like to worry about a child's development, to watch a grandparent struggle with memory loss, or to feel overwhelmed by the responsibility of caring for someone you love.

That understanding shapes everything we do, from our comprehensive approach that eliminates the need to coordinate between multiple providers, to our partnerships with healthcare professionals who share our commitment to family-centered care.

The Difference Experience Makes

Today, when families across South Carolina choose At Home Palmetto, they're choosing a team that genuinely understands that everyone deserves support delivered with warmth and respect. They're choosing caregivers who see their role not as a job, but as an opportunity to make a real difference in people's lives.

Because at the end of the day, good care isn't just about the tasks that get completed or the medications that get administered. It's about preserving dignity, maintaining independence, and ensuring that every person we serve feels valued, respected, and truly cared for.

That's the At Home Palmetto difference—and it's why our families really do call us family.
